The monkey bread was served hot and complimented the vanilla ice cream well. The dessert’s size was shareable for three or four people. One of the favorites, Two to Mango, is a cocktail served with a full-sized White Claw on the side.

The appetizer was enough for a few people to share that we would definitely order again. The only downside was the sea salt topping on the pretzels; it was a little too much. Hiking Cucamonga Peak via Icehouse Canyon

ice house canyon trail

Icehouse Canyon is located in a beautiful stretch of the Angeles National Forest near Mount Baldy Village, just southeast of the mighty Mount Baldy. A trail through the canyon leads up to Icehouse Saddle. At 7,500 feet, this low point in the ridgeline offers sweeping views of the western San Gabriel Mountains.

Ontario Peak and Cucamonga Peak via Icehouse Canyon Trailhead

In addition to the free permit that I just described (book online here), you will need a (free) California campfire permit. Again, it's not an official camping spot, and you might be asked to leave, but at this point, many folks do an overnight there, and you'll probably be fine as well. If you don't feel comfortable walking on the road, it's usually easy to hitchhike at the end of Manker Flats and get a lift from other hikers down to Icehouse. If you want to do some other great hikes from Icehouse Saddle, check out my directions for Cucamonga Peak and Ontario Peak. It's designed to let you take in the beauty of the Three Tee's Trail and then you have a nice long descent back to your car. If you want to avoid the more developed portions of the hike, simply hike to Telegraph Peak and return the way you came.

Map + Directions

Offering one of the coolest summits in the San Gabriel Mountains, the hike to Cucamonga Peak very popular. Cucamonga Peak, at 8,862 feet, has spectacular views from SoCal's high peaks to the urban development below. The hike up to the peak is tough but not brutal, the scenery and views are spectacular, and the summit area is a lot of fun. If you want to avoid the more populated trails, you can simply turn around here and retrace your steps back to the Icehouse Canyon Trailhead.

Pinyon Mountains Loop

The views are very nice and the time we went there was snow on the ground, but sneakers were still fine with some decently warm socks. Busy on a Saturday morning, but the farther you go up the less people you see.Definitely recommend for a good workout, but not too hard where you can't talk along the way. Above the snow-covered waterfall, the trail becomes more generous again and there is only one more steep passage over the last third-mile.

Trailhead Elevation

Poncho sledding, as it could be called, adds even more enjoyment to this winter hike.

Hikers may turn around at the saddle or continue on in four different directions. These tracks are barely visible under the deep snow, and only one trail sign is visible. The trail itself is not particularly exciting but does offer some nice views in all directions. Below the National Forest, all but the last half mile lies on lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management within the Red Cliffs NCA. The trail may also be accessed from the Broken Mesa trail that junctures with the trail about mid-point.

You can stay up to date with my new guides by following me on YouTube, Instagram, or by subscribing to my monthly newsletter. Before you start, you will need an Adventure Pass for parking ($5/day or $30 annually) as well as a free wilderness permit. Permit and pass can be purchased at the Mt. Baldy visitor center. The parking lot can fill up on weekends so get there early. There are basic toilets at the beginning of the trail but not on the trail itself.

Hike the Three T's Trail

Nothing is sponsored or promoted, just the actual gear that I use. Aside from a bar, there are next to no services in Mount Baldy Village. Make sure you pick up all of your supplies before leaving the metro area and heading up the hill. Icehouse Saddle itself is simply a weathered sign and a couple of downed trees that are great spots to sit down and catch your breath. Trail signs mark the destinations and distances of the trails that branch off from this point. On the descent, if you keep an emergency poncho in the bottom of your backpack (for completely different circumstances), you can put it to use as a makeshift toboggan.

Baldy Village Weather Forecast

The final approach to the summit is also an avalanche zone. If you don't have winter mountaineering experience, don't do it. People have fallen to their deaths here in the winter. There's some confusion around permits for Cucamonga Peak, especially after some changes were made in 2020. To do this hike from the Icehouse Canyon Trailhead to Cucamonga Peak, you can fill out a permit at the trailhead, or do it online here before you go. For some other approaches to Cucamonga Peak, you do need to obtain a permit beforehand.

The hike is accessible in all seasons, but in winter there can be snow and ice so special equipment may be useful, but not required. In mid-January there were patches of ice on the trail but were easily crossed in boots and trainers. You can take the trail and end at Ice house Saddle or continue on to other destinations for a longer hike or overnight camping. The Icehouse Canyon trail is a beautiful, well-forested trail that parallels babbling Icehouse Creek. There is lots of parking at the trailhead (Adventure Pass required) but due to the popularity, it fills up early. We started our hike at 7am and the parking lot still had a few spaces, but was quickly filling up.

I use the affordable National Parks Pass, which gets me in every park, monument, and national forest. You can also use a (Southern California only) Adventure Pass, or buy a $5 day permit from the visitor's center. Don't attempt it if you haven't done long mountain hikes and if you don't have a good level of fitness. Likewise, if there's snow and ice on the route, don't attempt it unless you have winter hiking and mountaineering experience. The trail is well-worn because it is a route for hikers attempting several of the high country peaks or others just out hiking the canyon with no particular turnaround point in mind. You may see quite a few other hikers during the busier seasons.

The rest of the hike directions here follow a loop route back to the hike start. Did the hike at the end of November (2015) and the weather was chilly so you needed a base layer and a decently warm jacket (gloves were helpful near the top too). The hike was doable by people who don't hike often, but are generally fit people (they were sore the next day).

The trail begins as an old 2-track which gradually peters out to a single-track, dirt path before reaching Mill Creek and then continues across the mesa. A 100 foot elevation gain is dwarfed by a total elevation loss of about 1,860 feet, the majority being a gradual decent across the mesa with a drop of about 400 feet the last 0.5 mile. The lower trailhead junction off of the Middleton Powerline trail is reached from the Mill Creek trailhead. The trail is bike and equestrian friendly except for the last 0.5 mile because of the steep descent on lava rock. Check the summit weather, the snow satellite imagery, and call the ranger office for the latest conditions, and don't take any risks. When there is snow and ice on Cucamonga Peak, it is no longer a hike and becomes a mountaineering activity.

Permits are required, but are self-serve and available at the trailhead (bring a pen). View San Gabriel Mountains in a larger map Or view a regional map of surrounding Los Angeles trails and campgrounds. Not long after crossing into the Cucamonga Wilderness, the trail begins to climb more seriously. Your heart starts to pound and your thighs start to burn… and then you hit the real steep section, an arduous march up a slippery slope called “the waterfall.” Have a look around for inspiration. Normally, the trail crosses to the north side of the canyon and climbs a series of switchbacks to get to Icehouse Saddle. However, when that white thing that is usually foreign to Southern California covers the ground, the consensus becomes to take a direct track right up the center of the canyon.

The Cucamonga Peak Hike

ice house canyon trail

If you are ending at the saddle, at least go up the ridge a little to the north to get a better view as the saddle view itself is a little lacking. Head back down the way you came or, for a longer but more gradual descent, take the Chapman Trailhead about .6 miles from Ice House Saddle. The hike down has the best views particularly of Baldy and I saw many things I missed on the way up.

Mt. San Antonio (Mt. Baldy) via the Ski Hut Trail

The hike starts directly past the parking lot on a gravel road that soon turns into a trail. Rustic cabins are seen along the creek, some looking more abandoned than others but, fun to see either way. There are some old ruins interspersed off the path to explore as well. The trail runs along the creek for about 2 relatively easy miles before it turns up into moderate to difficult switchbacks all the way to the top. Be sure to keep your ears out for a spring run off soon before the switchbacks start. It’s the perfect place for a break before starting your ascent.

Kelly Camp

ice house canyon trail

Departing from the parking lot along Icehouse Canyon Road, the trail takes course along the northern bank of a creek that flows down the canyon. Crystal clear water tumbles past oaks and sycamores, and this is a fine venue for a directionless romp through nature for those disinterested in following the trail. A half-dozen cabins are spread out along the bottom of the canyon, along with another half-dozen stone foundations (ruins left over from the early days of the Angeles). The trail passes these current and past dwellings, ascending gradually into a wilderness with less and less human impact. You need a parking pass for the Icehouse Canyon Trailhead lot.

Sunset Peak via South Trailhead

The combination of blue skies, white snow, and impressive peaks make for an exception outing. One mile from the start, comes a junction with the Chapman Trail, which turns north, passing through Cedar Grove Trail Camp on a more roundabout course to Icehouse Saddle. The Icehouse Canyon Trail continues straight ahead, eventually crossing over to the south side of the creek. Incense Cedars and firs become the dominant arbors, and 0.8 miles past the junction, the trail crosses a sign marking the boundary of the Cucamonga Wilderness. This is the halfway point by mileage, but in some ways, the hike is just beginning.

Cucamonga Peak Trail Map

It's almost like the Eastern Sierra, to an extent, but it needs fewer people playing music on speakers as they hike. After your hike be sure to stop at the Mt. Baldy Lodge for something to cool you down or warm you up. The chili and grilled cheese are my top choices and they have lots of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic and otherwise, which you have more than earned. There are many trails that lead from Icehouse Saddle and signage may be confusing or non-existent. I recommend carrying the Harrison Mt. Baldy and Cucamonga Wilderness Map, and backing that up with the GPX track loaded in GaiaGPS on my full-charged phone.

Come prepared with the ten essentials, including a map that you’ve studied beforehand and the knowledge of how to navigate and find an alternate route in case of wildfire or other emergency. Once you reach this marker to the summit, you’re almost there. And if it’s a clear day, you are rewarded with amazing views in every direction. We offer a compact version of Go-California for mobile users, allowing you to access just the information you need on the road. Of course, you can still use the full version of Go-California on your mobile device just as you can on your desktop. Overall the trails are well-marked and in good condition.

Baldy Village Weather Forecast

From the saddle, hikers and backpackers may continue on in several directions to explore nearby peaks and venture deeper into the Cucamonga Wilderness. The single-track to Icehouse Saddle climbs 2,600 feet over 3.6 miles and is an exceptional hike. Once you reach the saddle you can take a few different trails to numerous peaks to get a better view, extend the day or camp for the night.

Three T's Trail (Timber , Telegraph + Thunder Mountain)

I created this website to share all the great hikes I do with everyone else out there. This site is different because it gives detailed directions that even the beginning hiker can follow. I also share what hiking gear works and doesn't so you don't waste money. I don't do sponsored or promoted content; I share only the gear recommendations, hikes, and tips that I would with my family and friends. If you like the website and YouTube channel, please support these free guides (I couldn't do it without folks like you!).

There can be some rockslides on the final approach to the summit, but they're safe to cross if you go slowly. This is considered a "fee area," and you need a parking pass here. I use the affordable national parks pass, and you can also use an Adventure Pass.

This hike is not easy but it is a great workout and can be done by beginners up for a challenge, though it may take a little longer. The views are amazing, there is a chance you can see snow in the winter and spring, and it is a short distance from Los Angeles and other surrounding cities. In addition to the trail camps, backpackers may set up camp anywhere they wish in the wilderness as long as the spot is 200 feet from creeks and lakes. There are a good amount of flat camping areas at the summit and plenty of people do an overnight there.

A National Forest Adventure Pass is required for your vehicle while parked in this area. This is all beautifully forested country, with fine views from all the peaks. The second portion of the hike approaches the saddle in a series of switchbacks for the final 1,100 feet of gain. The trail then enters into alpine flora as it reaches the saddle that sits at about 7,600 feet in elevation. The Icehouse Canyon Trail, which ultimately climbs to Icehouse Saddle, is a beautiful and challenging trail that climbs to a less-than-climactic endpoint. Icehouse Saddle is a fork to several other trails, including trails to Ontario Peak, Bighorn Peak, Cucamonga Peak, Thunder Mountain, and even Mount Baldy for the very intrepid hikers.

Cucamonga Peak offers amazing views over Southern California’s Inland Empire, east toward Apple Valley and beyond. This hike from Icehouse Canyon is a strenuous 11.6 mile out-and-back route with 4,300 feet of vertical gain and a top elevation of 8,859′. The north-facing slope holds snow much later in the season than other peaks. The first time I hiked Cucamonga Peak, there were several sections of the trail that were covered with large patches of snow even in June. Like the two all in one palettes she just released. I can’t wear either one because they are too light and im not even deep toned. So maybe this is her making up for the fact that she hardly releases any palettes that is brown girls can wear. Nudegasm (Super Sculpt) is a dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation paired with a slightly firmer, somewhat stiff consistency. I found it seemed to yield more product readily after a few uses, but it sometimes required some pushing to dislodge powder from the pan’s surface, which made it harder to control how much product I picked up each time.

If you're into a sculpted complexion — keep reading because the below is for you. Here we're talking about contour palettes, which are the ultimate contour tool for any makeup bag or vanity. New York City-based makeup artist Benjamin Puckey previously told Allure that if you have the right contouring products, you can instantly help your face appear to be more three-dimensional. The good thing about a contouring palette is that many of them come with brightening shades or different textures, so with these, you're really getting the most for your buck.

I bought this on release but should have waited for your review only 2 shades work for me. I enjoyed the darker Glowgasm palette except the too light bronzer this palette feels like a step back for the brand who could do light, medium, and deep palettes. I can’t express how much I appreciate you discussing inclusivity in beauty.

Complete your look with this magical makeup kit...

This was the least warm-toned shade that I've swatched within the formula, so I could see it being more versatile across undertones as a result. The texture was smooth, lightweight, thin, and fluid without being watery (more like a cross between water and gel), which helped it blend well with moisturizer, primer, or foundation or be spread across larger areas (like all over the face). The doe-foot applicator made getting just a touch out easier for highlighting the high points of the face, though it was less useful for getting product for mixing in. While Smashbox's Step-By-Step Contour Kit only comes in Light/Medium and Medium/Dark colorways, the contour shades are highly pigmented and work for most skin tones. Plus, the highlighter shade in the palette is ideal for brightening and setting your undereyes.

The highlighter didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture and lasted well for eight and a half hours on my skin. As a standalone highlighter, this shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours. There is not really much I like from this collection – starting from the name; is CT copying NARS in its Orgasm obsession? The only shade here I like is Superfabulous, but I am sure it can be duped. The House also opts for two weeks of recess in February, but the two chambers align for two weeks away at the end of June and the beginning of July, including the week of July Fourth, which falls on a Tuesday in 2023. That is one case where there is a notable lack of alignment between the House and Senate, with the incoming GOP majority — which released its calendar before Thanksgiving — planning for members to be in their districts the week of Memorial Day itself. The Senate has released its 2023 legislative schedule, announcing the dates that the chamber plans to be in session. As we do every year, Rational 360 has combined this with the previously released 2023 House of Representatives schedule into a unified 2023 Congressional Calendar.

Senate and House calendars now set for 2023

From 2001 to 2022, the Senate spent an average of 168 days in session each year, and the House spent an average of 151 days in session. Between 2001 and 2022, the highest number of days the House spent in session was 193 (in 2017 and 2019) and the lowest was 104 in 2006. Between 2001 and 2022, the highest number of days the Senate spent in session was 195 in 2017 and the lowest was 133 in 2004.

Miray Cruises said that anyone requesting a refund will get one and that it will reimburse travel expenses related to the cruise. three year cruise around the world

On this sea cruise, you will visit 23 destinations including ancient temples and vibrant cities in northern Asia. Stops in Tokyo, Seoul, Jeju Island, and Shanghai give plenty of time to explore over 70 days. They would spend roughly 300 days at sea, 795 days at port and have 413 overnight port stays, Chief Operating Officer Ethem Bayramoglu of Miray Cruises, the Turkish parent company of Life at Sea, said in that online session.

Dive deeper into the world's wonders

With fares starting at $90,000 for an inside cabin and going up to $975,000 for a suite, the trip even seemed like a bargain to some prospective passengers, cheaper than living three years in many cities. The “Life at Sea” ship will set sail from Istanbul in November, traveling to 375 destinations, with stops in 135 countries across all seven continents. The ship will feature eight decks that will house three restaurants, a communal kitchen, a large pool with four Jacuzzis, a business center, and space for entertainment. The  MV Gemini cruise ship was scheduled to set sail on November 30, with the original departure date having been rescheduled several times. The sailing starts at $29,999 each year, per person based on double occupancy, and includes all meals, drinks, Wi-Fi, service charges and more, according to Life at Sea Cruises' website. MV Gemini first sets sail in 1992 as the Crown Jewel for Crown Cruise Line.

three year cruise around the world

The cruise line is aimed towards working professionals that want to spend time at sea while being able to carry out their work remotely. It won’t be something everyone will enjoy, but many will still see the benefits of embarking on a three-year journey that will span 130,000 miles, visit 375 ports of call in 135 different countries, and sail to all seven continents. The publication evaluated 17 cruise lines through a combination of expert evaluations (30%), traveler reviews (50%) and health ratings published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Vessel Sanitation Program (20%).

And as a single woman, she had been looking forward to exploring the world with a group. "Some people read the headlines and think, 'Oh, that was a scam,' but I really did my homework before I put a deposit down," Keri Witman of Cincinnati told NPR. Some passengers reportedly only learned of the cancellation after arriving in Turkey. Along the way, they would explore wonders of the world, visit UNESCO World Heritage sites and have plentiful chances to go diving and snorkeling, the company said. "We are going to be following summer the entire time that we go around the world," then-Life at Sea CEO Kendra Holmes told prospective passengers in a Zoom webinar in September.

There is no charge for additional guests staying in your cabin, however family and friends are responsible for paying the local port taxes and fees($33 Per-day). Guest cabins are available, subject to availability and seasonal rates. The company said that anyone requesting a refund will get one, and that it will reimburse travel expenses related to the cruise. On Sunday, Miray Cruises issued a statement in Turkish, denying that the cruise is canceled. Instead, the company said the voyage is postponed — and it blamed a lack of enough passenger bookings, rather than problems finding an appropriate ship. The cheapest packages started at $196,000 for a single traveler, and $231,000 for couples, according to the company's website.

Experience a wide range of onboard activities and entertainment, from Golf and Fitness to live shows and performances, we've got something for everyone. Warning flags went up earlier this year, when the company changed course from its initial plan to refit one of its ships, the MV Gemini. For the lengthy worldwide voyage, it planned to deploy the larger "MV Lara" — a ship that never materialized. And rather than portioning the cruise for sale in smaller stages, the company required customers to commit to the full three years. When the cruise missed its planned departure date, the company promised to resolve lingering issues. Witman, who owns a marketing agency named Clever Lucy, was planning to work remotely aboard the ship, using its Starlink internet service.

The three-year voyage departs from Istanbul on Nov. 1, 2023, with additional pick-ups in Barcelona and Miami later in 2023. The company also offers payment options starting from $2,499 per month, which includes food and beverage. Cabin options range from 130-square-foot interior rooms to 260-square-foot balcony suites.

The vessel will depart from Istanbul, Turkey, on November 1, 2023, before making additional stops (where passengers can also embark) in Barcelona and Miami. The ship also has other practical amenities, including a 24-hour hospital, which offers guests free medical visits, learning experiences for guests like lectures and classes, and volunteer opportunities at various ports. Smaller cruise lines — with ships that fit hundreds rather than thousands of guests — dominated U.S.

Stroll along the colorful streets of Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore Spanish fortresses nearby. Or zipline through Nicaragua’s lush jungles and relish in sweeping views of the region’s untouched landscapes. If you plan to stay in San Francisco either before or after your cruise, I recommend looking at options in the Fisherman's Wharf district. It's the closest district to Pier 27, where the cruises dock, and it is home to Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, and the ferries to Alcatraz. Unfortunately, the historic village of Lahaina was destroyed by a devastating fire in August 2023.

If you prefer a night in, the Ruby Princess also offers 24-hour room service. This large cruise ship features space for more than 3,000 passengers. In addition, it has several pools, a full-service spa, and a poolside movie theater. You can also entertain yourself in the casino, at a nightclub-style performance, or in one of several lounges.

Kaulua-Kona (or just Kona) is located on the western side of the big island. At this port, you will also find a variety of adventure activities as well as plenty of space on the beach to relax. Coffee lovers should also check out the famous coffee grown here. Hawaiian cruises are one of the great vacations. You can also take advantage of Princess transportation, hotel, and sightseeing packages to discover these cosmopolitan cities.

Start your cruise from San Francisco by sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge and into a sea of opportunity. Venture north to relive Alaska’s gold rush history, or head south to bask in the beauty of the Mexican Riviera. Tour the California Coast on a 4-day cruise from San Francisco, or explore the Hawaiian islands on a 15-day cruise.

You can head to one of its gorgeous beaches for the day or explore the city on foot and learn more about its history. It's also a great place to go whale watching or head out to see the Haleakala Crater (a volcano that forms more than 75% of the island of Maui). It's the oldest of the Hawaiian islands and offers lovely beaches and plenty of places to explore. This lovely port of call is home to around 40,000 people. During your stop here, you can check out the rich history of this beautiful town during a guided walking tour or on your own. You can also head west and enjoy some adventure, such as hiking, ziplining, or a visit to the summit of Mauna Loa, one of the world's largest volcanoes.

The stunning Na Pali Coast has served as the backdrop for Hollywood blockbusters, such as Jurassic Park and King Kong. With endless emerald landscapes, Kauai truly lives up to its nickname of "The Garden Island". The Kimpton Alton is among other San Francisco hotels that have encountered financial challenges following the pandemic. Last year, Park Hotels & Resorts stopped making payments on the Hilton San Francisco Union Square and the Parc 55 San Francisco, both of which are currently in receivership.

The resorts of the Zona Dorada ("Golden Zone") deserve their fame, as does the sport-fishing which is known the world over, yet somehow the city maintains much of the simplicity and peace of its fishing village past. Hollywood discovered this little fishing village back in the 1960's, and since then luxury resorts and bougainvillea-covered villas have flourished in the delightful seaside climate. The vessel has cancelled its scheduled call to Princess Cays in the Bahamas on December 17. The April 13, 2024 cruise on the Carnival Panorama departs from Long Beach, California. On this 7 Night Mexican Riviera sailing, the ship will visit a total of 4 different cruise port destinations, including its departure port. The ship’s arrival in Charleston was delayed, as was embarkation for the vessel’s following sailing.

Great Stirrup Cay was to have been the final port of call for the sailing, but now the ship is heading straight back to Port Canaveral. The ship is sailing an eight-night Bahamas itinerary, which did have a delayed departure out of New York City and ended up remaining overnight. Allure of the Seas arrived back at Port Canaveral on schedule on Friday morning, though it is likely her next itinerary – a 3-night weekend getaway to Nassau and CocoCay, will also be impacted by the poor weather.
